Considering Surrogacy

When a couple finds out that they are unable to conceive a child together naturally, that can be a considerable blow. There is an equal chance of both the male and the female having a reproductive issue that hinders this process. But, medical technology has advanced to such a point that couples who never thought they would be able to have their own biological child might now have the chance.

One of the ways that this can be achieved is through surrogacy. In the surrogacy process, a woman is implanted with the fertilized egg of the couple. Although sometimes a healthy family member of the appropriate background and age might n most cases, this woman is selected by the couple from a fertility agency.

Generally, what happens is that the prospective gestational carrier will submit an application. This woman will not only have to be mentally and physically healthy, she will have to have already had her own healthy children. The application should include photos of the woman's family, and will also ask other questions about her menstrual cycles and pregnancy background.

Although many couples are hesitant about the surrogacy process at first, they end up embracing surrogacy for a variety of different reasons. They will be able to actively participate in all of the woman's prenatal appointments. The controversial nature of such a situation is very much a thing of the past, because this is a way for couples to have their own child, but also gain a friend in the process.
