Toyota Corolla 15K Mile Scheduled Maintenance Dania FL

Reader Question My question is about a 2007 Toyota Corolla.

It says in the service section to tighten drive shaft bolt every 15k miles.

What is the Drive Shaft Bolt?

Where is the Drive Shaft Bolt?

How do you go about doing this?

Is this really necessary?

I've been doing a lot of research on the internet and no-one seems to know, not even Toyota service technicians.

So maybe you might know, if its just a scam for Toyota to make money, or if this really exists.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I would call this type of service...."FLUFF"

Not really a scam, but for the people who actually read their owner’s manual it sounds like something important to do, that they can’t do themselves, so you go back to the dealership to have the work done.

I have seen other services like "lubricate fuel door spring", "inspect disc brake caliper slide pins" and "inspect fresh air filter inlet" all of which are "FLUFF" used to get you back to the dealership but they are really meaningless repairs...in my opinion, my lawyer makes me say that. Hahahahahah

If you see the word "inspect" instead of "replace", be prepared for an up- sale. Meaning, you are paying the mechanic to "inspect" or "check" items on your car, and he will surely find SOMETHING that he can try and sell you.

I would rather find an honest repair shop and build a relationship with them. I normally "inspect" most of the items listed on the factory service schedules for FREE for my customers.
